Hello! My name is Richard Bamber and I am a rail / transportation civil engineer, transit advocate and world traveller.
The inspiration for this site comes from my experiences mainly travelling across the USA on a budget where I would fly somewhere for the first time and see people at the airport heading straight for the taxi line or the Supershuttle desk (remember them?) for a way to get to the city center, usually paying a hefty price for the priviledge. Most airports have public buses and / or trains serving them however these require a little bit of research on how to use.
I wondered if there was a site that could give the budget traveller all the information they need on how to use the local public transit connections in a clear, simple to understand and consistant format located on a single page. It turns out that that while apps such as Google Maps and Transit have done a good job in making live tracking information available, no such resource to answer questions such as “can I use a contactless card on the bus?” or “where can I find a system map?” exists… unit now.
While I’m originally from Surrey, United Kingdom, I currently live in Denver, Colorado so you may see extra content relating to these two locations on the site. It’s not uncommon that an issue observed locally is repeated on a national or even global scale.
So please come in and take a look around.
Richard
